ideation
to begin the ideation process I took pictures and observed my shape from all different angles. This really began in the CAD phase and I already had some of my concepts in place by the time that I had finished building my shape. after I had a few concepts, my ideation process began to slow down as I had exhausted the most obvious objects that my shape could be. some of the ideas flowed from other Ideas such as the footrest stemming from the chair. but most of the ideas were more or less independent from one another.

reflection
I found this project to be quite odd, while we are taught the course to be careful not to design solutions to problems that do not exist in this project we were doing exactly that. the most difficult part of this project was the ideation phase. I found it difficult to come up with 10 varied uses for an abstract shape. I do enjoy papercraft and I learnt allot from that aspect of the project especially when it came to the creation of a net to create my shape. when unrolling the surface in rhino each surface is separated form its neighbors. this meant that later in the assembly process I ended up in a position where there was a surface that I had to glue to the inside of the shape where it could not be accessed. this issue could be eased by leaving some of the faces attached together. this would allow me to simply fold this edge instead of having to glue it.
